Staycation at Midori Hotel :)

So last week, we went to Midori Hotel and Casino in Clark, Pampanga just to have a mini-staycation. And also to test if Eos had any improvement with long road trips, haha. XD We already took him to another part of Pampanga last June (more on that soon!), and we discovered that babies and being made to sit for long periods of time in the car do not mix. Hahaha. But hey, maybe there was some improvement. But probably no plane rides for now. XD

In fairness, it was only like around 2 hours from Makati to get to Midori, not counting our stopover in NLEX with Kenny Rogers (disappointing for the price :P) and Krispy Kreme. Maybe because the day before was a holiday?

The outside. Yay. XD

We arrived in Midori, and that was when we had our first encounter with the frustrating security. Yes, it’s normal for them to inspect the car, ask who we are, what we were gonna do. But the guard sounded kind of rude to people who were actually checking in. So bleh. Also, he wanted us to turn the car around, dump the stuff at the front for inspection, then park the car. Sorry if I’m paranoid, but I didn’t really feel like leaving all my stuff with them, out of my sight. So he was like, okay, park the car, we’ll send a golf cart thingy for you guys. I’m like, why the heck do I need a golf cart thingy to go to the front entrance when the parking lot has a path leading to the back entrance entrance already? I understand that it’s a casino, so maybe that’s why they have strict security measures, but we were supposed to check in. Sheesh. So yeah, they got our bags to the front for inspection, while we just walked in the back way. Annoying also because until Rae looked for our bags, they didn’t even take it inside the hotel. @_@

Check in was smooth after that, and then, yay, up to the room. XD We got two stubs for the breakfast buffet. More on that later.

Rae and Eos check out our bed in the room, yay. 😀

The check-in came with a Php200 gift voucher for the spa. Not much, since the spa is expensive (forgot the price, but 200 off is nothing), but hey, free stuff.

Free coffee is always good too. XD

First time to experience this: Midori told us that the mini bar was free! Well, for the first round anyway. Refills are the ones that have charge. Yes, you can bet we finished the mini bar. Haha. XD

Standard hotel stuffs, yays.

Our view from the room. Nice, fresh… makes me wish Manila was like this. XD

So, we were all just enjoying the experience… then suddenly, the front desk officer came knocking at our door, asking for one of our breakfast buffet stubs back. It seems that when we booked with Agoda, the rate we received was for only one (1) adult person’s breakfast. This was okay, except that one, when my wife booked via Agoda, this stipulation was not really made clear and two, we were disappointed to book via Agoda because at the front desk, we saw that the hotel rate was the same we got when we booked with Agoda EXCEPT that the breakfast buffet was for TWO. So yeah, thanks a lot Agoda. And we do recommend that before booking with Agoda to check with the hotel directly to get their rate.

Anyway, after getting over that initial disappointment (I just decided to pay for additional for buffet, which I was told was Php935), we decided to rest first, since Eos was sleepy, and then after, to finally do something which we haven’t done in a long time: swim during a staycation. XD

After Eos woke up, we dressed in our swimming attire and headed to the pool, yay.

Here is Eos inside a pool! This is his first time. 😀

His mom was enjoying dipping him into the pool also. XD

He may not look it, but he really does enjoy swimming. XD

And here’s a video of him “swimming”. Haha. XD We couldn’t find a floater for him days before, so Rae had to just swim him. Haha. XD

We didn’t let him stay long in the water, because he had just recently recovered from a fever, and the water was kind of cold.

This is Eos wrapped up like a burrito. XD

This is his mom, amused at his appearance. XD

Rae and I took turns swimming in the bigger pool. So yeah, if you want to fully enjoy a staycation, and you have a baby, I would personally recommend for someone to come along with you to hold your baby while you and your significant other enjoy the facilities. Lolz.

After swimming, we freshened up. For dinner, we decided to go out of the hotel and go to the nearby Jollibee. Haha. XD The great thing about the location of Midori is that it feels like you’re in your own unpopulated part of Clark, which is really good for people who want to take a vacation, but there are many establishments near it, such as Jollibee, McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks, 7-11, Meatplus Cafe… I could go on. XD We ended up at Burger King for dinner, then just enjoyed our hotel room.

Of course, we looked forward to the morning, because buffet breakfast! Yay. XD But first, I worked out at the gym (yes, I really did even if there is no photographic evidence :P), and Rae and Eos walked around the garden at the ground floor.

So, breakfast. Yay. XD so, remember that we only had one stub and I had to pay for my breakfast, buffet, right? The good thing was, the amount said to me of Php935 was the actual amount. I really hate buffets that have prices like Php1000+++ per person. -roll eyes- Just give me the actual amount please, tenx.

So was the buffet worth the Php935? I would definitely say yes, especially if you are able to eat large amounts of food in the morning. I’m not used to buffets anymore, but I still tried to enjoy it as much as possible. XD

This is Rae’s breakfast. She tried out the breads first, and her staple food, bacon. XD

This is my breakfast. XD Me, because I’m a bread guy, I got a lot of bread too, as well as bacon, and mini burgers. Rae got me eggs too.

And this is Eos asking why he doesn’t have his own breakfast. Hahaha. XD

Finally, his mother feeds him something. Haha. XD Thank you Midori that you have your baby chairs. Yay. XD

This is my round 2. I went a little Asian this time, with a mix of Filipino food like tocino. And of course, more bread. XD After this, my stomach felt really heavy. I was concerned that I couldn’t have any more dessert. Hahaha.

Rae’s dessert selections.

Compared to mine. Yes, hers is prettier. Haha. XD

After breakfast, we requested if it was possible to get a late checkout time, and they granted us additional 1 hour stay. Not bad. XD

And to end this post, here are just some more photos of Eos enjoying our room. He’s so cute!… if we do say so ourselves. XD

So, to sum it all up: did we enjoy our stay at Midori? Yes, we certainly did, aside from annoying guards, hotel policies re: the bags, and Agoda. Yes Agoda, you deserve so many mentions because you suck. Ahem… anyway, yes, Midori is nice, and beautiful, the sheets are comfortable, the gym is great, the free first round of the mini bar is the best, the food is delicious… and it’s near Metro Manila (just a maximum 2 hour drive), and better if you fly in to Clark, it’s very near the airport. Yay. XD So in case you are looking for a staycation place, and you want it somewhere in Clark, Midori gets our recommendation. 🙂
